We have designed many games for many Fortune 500 clients, we'll help advise you on the best treatment for your learning materials. Scroll down or use the right side menu to explore our capabilities and some different game styles.

Our priority is making sure your game's a success and you achieve your learning objectives. We love to innovate, but we’re led by the learner and the training need, and we use games and technology in ways which best enhance the learning.

Taking into consideration your organisation’s ecosystem and requirements, and with input from your subject matter expert, we’ll guide you through our tried and tested process from concept to deployment – to design and build a game that perfectly fits your workforce.

We listen thoroughly to your needs and work closely and transparently with you throughout to ensure you're 100% happy with your game. You have the subject matter expertise, our expertise is in the 'sweet spot' between a grounding in learning psychology, a love of games (and thorough knowledge of how game mechanics can motivate and engage the learner), together with a realistic appreciation of the need to ensure our technology is compatible with your IT infrastructure and your company culture.

Emerging Technologies and Innovation

The team at Totem Learning are constantly innovating with emerging technologies. Two areas that are set for huge growth in the next few years are Virtual and Augmented Reality.

Virtual Reality

Taking 3D games and simulations one step further, Virtual Reality creates a sense of immersion like no other, and with headsets improving constantly this technology is fast becoming impossible to ignore for its potential Learning  and Development benefits.

With solutions that are compatible with mobile phones (e.g. using Google cardboard) the cost doesn’t have to be prohibitive either. Images below are from our demo treasure hunt mini-game available on Google Play for use with 'Cardboard'.

Consider using VR for any learning in which immersion in a particular environment is important. However, be aware that the technology (at time of writing) is still not quite at a stage that allows users to spend long periods of time in the headsets due to motion sickness - and communication can be limited, so it is better suited to single player experiences.

Augmented Reality

Augmented Reality can be used to great effect for technical and hard skills training. Imagine overlaying a car engine with digital instructions on how to check oil and water, or as per our welding sim, mixing in hardware so that the movements and actions that the learner performs in reality, are augmented in virtual reality on-screen, excellent for muscle memory development and feedback with significant cost-saving benefits.

Consider using AR for hard skills training.

Role Plays

Role Plays

For training on soft skills, compliance, systems or methodologies for example, role plays can work really well. In such games and simulations, the learner takes on a particular role such as an investigator in an equality and diversity dispute, or a project manager in charge of six sigma process improvement for a failing business. Often built in 2D (because the emphasis is on in-game interactions rather than moving around the environment),  the games can include interactive maps to transport the players to different locations, animated avatars to converse with in branching conversations, a gamification layer (scoring, leaderboard etc) and difficulty progression amongst many other possibilities.

At Totem, we have been trusted to create role play games for many clients. Our 'serious games engine' and collection of environments and characters allows for rapid, cost effective development. So please get in touch with us now to discuss your training requirements and let us inspire you with some examples from our catalogue.

Consider Role Play games for:

  • Compliance such as diversity training
  • Change management
  • Internal communications
  • Induction and Onboarding
  • Any soft-skills training

Blended Solutions

Blending technology enhanced training, including apps, elearning and games

Serious games and simulations have a place in the learning journey, for example to practice concepts, as a hook in to a new subject, or even as an assessment tool.  At other times, other tools may be more effective, for example elearning when onboarding large amounts of new information, or apps for 'just in time' learning of small nuggets of information.

Totem Learning have the capability and capacity in-house to create a suite of technology enhanced training to take your learners from newbie right through to master.

Blended solutions are effective training programs that incorporate serious games, facilitators, classroom learning, elearning, on-the-go learning into one training program in almost any area, especially practical for soft skills training in education and business.

Mini Games

When less is more

You may not always need a full blown serious game, with an hour+ duration, it might be that a shorter mini game will suffice, so talk to us about your learning requirements and our designers will advise you on how to get the most 'bang for your buck'!

Additionally, mini games can be used to reward players, as a breakout in an otherwise intensely challenging game - or to check knowledge retention
